Greetings Earth Charter Community Network!

After releasing the Local Endorsement Kit our team took a long hiatus to take care of the spring planting/organic gardening as well as catch up on some much needed land stewardship where we live.  We are resuming our monthly broadcast cycle now and we hope all of you have been enjoying your summer!

Welcome new members

San Diego, CA, United States

Lithia, FL, United States

Middletown, CA, United States

Clifton Heights, PA, United States

Eureka, CA, United States

We are also going back through all member profiles to see who never received any official welcome due to platform management issues that happened after the first official launch so you may be receiving a way belated 'welcome message'.

If any members have Ning network experience and are interested in helping to approve and welcome new members please contact us at with 'Welcome Wagon Admin' in the subject line.

We found a great website called 'Sustainable Communities Online' that has a great deal of valuable information, links, and resources related to building and creating sustainable communities.  Click here to read more

Earth Charter for Intellectuals Only?

Someone recently said in a meeting that I attended that they felt that the Earth Charter was for 'intellectuals'...

I paused and thought about his statement and when I asked him to elaborate he said that most of the information found online about the Earth Charter catered to what he saw as 'academia' and scholastic circles.  He also said that most of those circles bled into groups of people who he felt were 'wanna-be elites'.

I shared with him a bit about my experiences and feelings about the Earth Charter and before the meeting ended he had taken an interest in learning more.  He said that what I shared made him feel more open to the possibility that the Earth Charter could be a powerful personal tool for growth.

What I shared with him was this: CLICK HERE TO READ MORE

We also want to thank those of you who emailed us and gave us the great feedback on the Local Endorsement Kit & Activities Guidebook that was released at the end of May.  Please leave any future feedback on the blog post page so others can read your views.

So until the next broadcast remember this community is still in it's infancy and it can only grow with your ongoing efforts to share, learn, and grow together.  Start a discussion in the forums, post some pictures or videos, write a blog post about your Earth Charter activities or simply share some great resources with everyone in the community!

MAY 30, 2012

Greetings Earth Charter Community!

Our team spent the month of May doing overtime getting the garden beds laid (seedlings in the ground) and compiling/editing a long awaited resource for this community. As Earth Charter activists we know very well the 'I've endorsed the Earth Charter - now what?" question that most everyone has right after endorsing. We also know how frustrating it can be finding simple high quality resources that can serve as a starting point guide to some potential answers to that question.

We are proud to announce the official release of the 'Earth Charter Local Endorsement Kit & Activities Guidebook. We worked hard to put this guidebook together before the end of May and even delayed the scheduled broadcast to get it done. This ebook can be downloaded, shared, and reproduced easily in pdf format and is published under 'Creative Commons' license.

Call for Additions

This first version of the guidebook is just a starting place and is intended to expand and evolve. If you have edits, additions, and ideas please post them in this new Resource Sharing category of the forum. When new submissions come in we will add them to the guidebook and release new versions. Broadcasts will be sent when new resources are added.

Video Tutorial

Now that we have finished the task of completing the guidebook we are getting to work on creating video tutorials about this network and how to use and get the most out of this versatile community network platform. We have been wanting to create one since this network relaunched but there are only so many hours in a day as you all know and video editing is one of those tasks that has hours of editing = seconds of video. We are hopeful that some new software and editing program we just got will speed the process up though! Until then please log on and simply take a look around - it is a very user friendly platform and much of it can be easily learned by newbies.

We hope you enjoy the new Earth Charter Community resource guidebook and we look forward to your feedback and contributions to the next edition.

APRIL 20, 2012

Greetings Earth Charter Community!

Last year on Earth Day you recommitted your endorsement to the Earth Charter and joined the new community network that was created and launched to serve Earth Charter supporters by providing ways to connect, share, inspire, and promote Earth Charter related projects, programs, and activities. The original launch failed to make it into orbit due to constrictions and circumstances related to a failed partnership between Earth Charter US governance and the network sponsor, creators, and administrative team.

The Earth Charter Community Network is now re-launching as a public 'people's community network' just like the Earth Charter is a 'people's charter' and on this Earth Day 2012 you are invited to celebrate the re-launch of the new, updated, and ungoverned Earth Charter Community Network:

What are you doing for Earth Day?

Earth Day 2012: A Billion Acts of Green®

In recognition of the power of millions of individual actions, Earth Day 2012 will be organized around A Billion Acts of Green®: Personal, organizational and corporate pledges to live and act sustainably.

Please login and 'Declare Your Interdependence' and don't forget to download your Endorsement Certificate and invite your friends! More resources will be added and don't hesitate to make recommendations or ask for help from Earth Charter Community Admins. If anyone would like to join the admin team please contact us!
